We have exciting news – John’s Coffee House & Tavern is officially open following an extensive refurbishment! Located on the ground floor of The CoURT, this historic café-bar has been revived to offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a nod to its rich past.
John’s Coffee House dates back to 1688 and was once a gathering place for writers, thinkers, and revolutionaries in Edinburgh. It played a vital role in the city’s social and intellectual life, serving as a hub for lively debates and discussions. Today, we are proud to restore its legacy, blending its storied past with modern comforts. To learn more about the history of the place, click here.
