Whether you are a day lark or a night owl, sleep is the most important activity to keep your mind and body sharp and healthy at all times. This way you will always be fresh and at your best while travelling. However, we all know that quality sleep doesn’t come easily when you are away from home. You need to ensure that your environment(lighting, temperature, etc.) before going to bed is apt to help you rest well! Let’s see a few good sleep hygiene tips on how you, as a lark or an owl can get that undisturbed rest on your cosy pod bed in a hostel.
While there are people who prefer complete darkness during their sleep there are some who need some light. It is always recommended that the LED light be dimmed while you are asleep, especially if you get up at night. The cool thing about this is that the LED light colour can be changed to suit your mood and sleeping style.
You don’t want to freeze while you are sleeping or even worse sweat. The centralized system ensures that the ideal room temperature for sleeping is maintained between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit (between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius).
Although not always possible when in a journey, it is vital to get that uninterrupted 8-hour sleep even while you are on the move. Great if you have planned your travel in such a way that does not disturb your regular sleep pattern. If not, it is ideal to set your alarm to wake yourself up at the time you want. (Make sure you get up then!)
You should get relaxed before sleep, for example, practice yoga, meditation, gentle exercises and stretching. Just make sure you do them at least three hours prior to sleeping. It can help you relax, speed up your metabolism and stimulate hormones like Cortisol, and thus induce improved sleeping.
You have enough space in the pod to gossip or even share your thoughts with friends. It helps a lot to have a chat before bed to de-stress yourself. This will give you a peaceful sleep and be at ease with a clear mind.
So, which suggestion will help you get a night of better quality sleep in a pod?
